Of a vast fundraising events program designed by the Toy Trust, The Big Thames Challenge was a huge success. The event took place in Marlow and welcomed 290 participants in 26 teams to take part in a number of challenges, including a 20km Thames Path walk, 20km Thames Path run, a triathlon and a 75 mile bike ride to Oxford and back. The fundraising goal of the event was set at £175,000, which was very quickly surpassed after the evening dinner and raffle, reaching a record-breaking £205,000.
Founded by the British Toy and Hobby Association (BTHA), the Toy Trust exists to raise money predominantly from the toy industry, its suppliers and friends; and distribute the money raised to charities helping disadvantaged and disabled children within the UK and abroad. Each year the Toy Trust selects new charities to support.
Hayley Josephs of our Marketing team commented:
“At AA Thornton we are aware of our personal and corporate responsibilities and seek to support charitable ventures where we can. The firm was delighted to support The Big Thames Challenge and to help raise funds for such wonderful causes. Our participating runners had a fantastic day taking part and a lovely evening celebrating.”
