We are delighted that Partner Mike Jennings has been appointed by the EPO President to continue his contributions to the SACEPO Working Party on Quality for another 3 years.
What is SACEPO?
The Standing Advisory Committee before the European Patent Office (SACEPO) was formed in 1978. Its aim was to give “interested circles” a say in the development of the European patent system. Members include nominated representatives from industry and the patent profession, and recognised experts in the field of industrial property law appointed by the President of the EPO. SACEPO is the EPO’s main advisory body and is consulted on all major issues relating to the development of the European patent system. Regular consultation of SACEPO ensures that proposed changes to European patent law and practice are seen from the perspective of the users and debated in a thorough and balanced way prior to implementation.
The Working Party on Quality focuses on quality and process efficiency in the patent process. It includes representatives from major user associations and provides feedback on new initiatives.
Mike’s involvement with the SACEPO Working Party on Quality comes as a natural extension of our own focus on the core values of high quality and continuous improvement.
With regard to Mike’s reappointment, Adrian Bennett (Partnership Chair) said:
“The European Patent Office’s senior management is very keen to receive feedback from users of the EPO, and SACEPO has a significant role to play in this. I am delighted that Mike has been asked to contribute for another 3 years.”
